A vacancy exists for a suitably qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join the team at Chesnut Lodge Special School. 

Our school caters for pupils aged 2 – 16 years, with complex needs arising from physical, sensory and medical difficulties.  We are a well resourced school and enjoy a high profile within the local community. 

The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a passion for working with pupils with SEN and a professional interest in continuing professional development.  The role includes actively leading on the Multi Agency Plan, maintaining home / school links whilst students are recuperating, multi-agency networking, supporting staff in care roles, overseeing and delivering training to support the professional development of support staff and an expectation to provide teacher cover when required.

This physically demanding role will require good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as lead, a key member of the team and independently. 

The successful applicant will:

  • Have the flexibility to adapt routines according to the day’s needs
  • Have the ability to lead teams, displaying excellent organisational skills and the ability to motivate staff.

The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate training programmes, including those required to meet the physical, including intimate care, feeding, behavioural and medical needs of the students.
