Are you an experienced class teacher who is looking for a new challenge?

A vacancy exists for a suitably qualified / experienced Classroom Teacher to join the team at Chesnut Lodge Special School. 

Our school caters for pupils aged 2 – 16 years, with complex needs arising from physical, sensory and medical difficulties.  We are a well resourced school and enjoy a high profile within the local community. 

The Governors, staff and children are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, energetic, versatile and committed class teacher to provide a high quality curriculum meeting the wide variety of needs and abilities of the pupils at Chesnut Lodge (levels in the school range from early Engagement Steps to Progression Steps 6). 

We are looking for a teacher with a passion for working with pupils with special needs and an understanding of teaching a sensory based curriculum as well as the National Curriculum.  Following appropriate training, you must be willing and able to engage in and lead your class team in behaviour management strategies when required.

We are committed to providing high quality Continuing Professional Development and will support you by providing appropriate training and support for the post. The post will be in the Primary Phase of the school.

The successful applicant will be required to complete appropriate training programmes, including those required to meet the physical, including intimate care, feeding, behavioural and medical needs of the students.

You should note that, if successful, you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or Enhanced DBS check for Regulated Activity.  Further information about DBS can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check/overview.
