The role
You will:

  • Work across the school to support children’s social, emotional and mental health so they are ready to learn.
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with children and families, using a child‑centred approach that places children’s needs at the heart of everything.
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small‑group pastoral support (eg. emotional regulation, bereavement support, confidence building) and help children access classroom learning.
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and group curriculum support
  • Plan and deliver engaging pastoral activities and resources that reflect our Christian values.

  • Help identify emerging needs, record progress and communicate sensitively with class teachers and the pastoral lead.
  • Support positive behaviour, dignity and inclusion in line with school policies.
  • Work as a collaborative member of staff, contributing ideas, attending staff meetings and supporting whole‑school initiatives.

You will be valued because you:

  • Are proactive, patient and calm with a natural ability to build rapport with children.
  • Use a child‑centred approach and show empathy, respect and confidentiality.
  • Have experience (paid or voluntary) of supporting children’s emotional needs, and knowledge of strategies to support regulation and resilience.
  • Can plan purposeful small‑group or 1:1 activities and keep clear written records.
  • Communicate well with colleagues and families and work flexibly as part of a team.
  • Hold or be willing to undertake relevant training (eg. safeguarding, first aid, restorative approaches).
  • Support and model our Christian vision and values in everyday practice.

We offer

  • A welcoming, supportive staff team committed to staff wellbeing.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • A school community shaped by Christian values where children and staff flourish.
