The Bridge School is a Pupil Referral Unit for KS3 & KS4 students. The school is excited to offer the opportunity for an outstanding and dedicated Attendance Officer to join us on the next stage of our transformational journey.
We are looking for an inspirational and highly organised professional with a strong understanding of attendance, safeguarding and student welfare, alongside a proven ability to improve attendance outcomes and remove barriers to education. You will be committed to fostering positive, purposeful relationships with students, families and external agencies to ensure every learner has the opportunity to thrive.
Since the appointment of new senior leadership in September 2025, the school has embarked on an exciting journey with a revolutionary new curriculum offer and extended opportunities for students to achieve. The role comes with the autonomy to lead on attendance strategies across the school and play a pivotal role in ensuring students access education consistently. We are seeking someone who can carefully analyse attendance patterns, identify barriers to engagement and implement effective intervention strategies that support sustained improvements in attendance and punctuality. Working closely with students, families, school staff and external agencies, you will promote a culture where attendance is valued and every student feels supported to achieve success.

As a successful applicant, you will have the skills to engage and support students whose attendance may have been impacted by a range of personal, social, emotional or educational challenges. You will be able to identify strengths and barriers to engagement, implementing innovative and creative approaches to help students reconnect with education. You will work proactively with families to promote positive attendance habits, offering support, challenge and guidance where appropriate. We are looking for someone who can quickly build trust, motivate students and families, and create sustainable improvements in attendance and engagement.
In exceptional circumstances, you will be expected to coordinate attendance support for students accessing alternative provision, remote learning or reintegration programmes, ensuring that all students continue to receive the support they need to remain engaged with their education.
Successful candidates should have the skills and personality to develop professional and sustainable relationships with students, families, staff and external partners. Being positive, calm, resilient, consistent and reliable are essential qualities. You will work closely with our pastoral team, Teaching Assistants, Key Workers, safeguarding staff and senior leaders to ensure students receive coordinated and effective support.
The role will involve regular communication with parents and carers, conducting attendance meetings, home visits where appropriate, and working with external agencies to secure the best possible outcomes for young people.
